noob checking in and have a question

hey guys hows it going. I always wanted a impreza and finally will be able to get one. I come from the 240 crowd. Right now i have a 95 240 with sr20 and s15 front end, but im selling it.

My question is, i have always been in love with the 2001 and below body. Dont know when it starts. But 2001 is the last year. Well the question is how hard is to swap in a wrx motor into that body. Is it simple or do i have to change everything.

THanks and im looking forward to good times on this board, cause right now there are too many ricers getting 240s.

I bet you'd get a great answer if you asked this of LIC in the vender forum section. They do top notch swaps and know what's needed.

There's no problem with posting it here, I was just trying to get you to where you can get a solid answer. Welcome, I hope you get that swap worked out...it's one of the most desired cars around (pre bug eye with WRX engine...)

Post pics of the Strawberry Face 14......

Used to live in Japan and owned several S13's and a 180SX over the course of 10 years....
Would have gone 240SX on coming back to the states...but as you said...to many Ricers in the 240 crowd...plus finding a car for under $5000 that doesn't have 200,000 miles on it is impossible

Welcome to the board.

Everything pretty much bolts right up. The hardest part is probably wiring.

Car Info: 2000 impreza 2.5 rs
I dont know about the swap but i do know this.
I have a 2000 2.5rs.
the proformance mods I have done and prices to it are:
port matched throtel body, intake, heads $200 in gaskets (did timing and head gaskets at the same time)
polished and knife edge tb free
borla headers $350
stromung catless mid pipe $400
wrx exhaust conversion $75 (if you have free access to a welder)
light weight underdrive pully $45
gutted air box with k&n filter $50

my friend has a wrx with with a down pipe and an exhaust system and when ever we run them I am only 1/2 a car length (from his back bumper to my front) after 1/4 mile

I am not trying to sway you in any way from what you want I am mearly pointing out if you want the speed of the wrx with the style of the gc8's you might just be better off finding a 2.5 and modding it.

I picked my 2.5 up with 60,000 miles on it for $11,000
I looked at wrx prices a while ago and they were about $17,000 with about the same miles.
It will cost you about $3000 in stuff for the swap (according to the guy I talked to at the wrecking yard).
I think for less money you could get the 2.5 just as fast.

another thing to consider is if you plan to do more modding to it. If after you get to the wrx speed level and want to go faster you do have more options for that with the wrx swap.

just figgured Id throw that out for you.
ps, love the 240's then again Im a sucker for F/R.
I seem to be drawn alot to the sil180's (knock offs that is)
