know this has probably been asked alot but i was thinking about doing a swap to a ej22t into my 95 1.8L impreza, just wondering i was thinking about doing a complet rebuild on the ej22t and im just wondering should i get a stand alone ecu. im just wondering what you guys think if i was to get a 94 ej22t and put it in a 95 do you think inspection wise they would ***** or what just trying to figure it out and see if its worth the money to do it that way or to do a jdm swap i dunno need help my mind still isnt made up

 

as far as inspection is, if you live in a state that has CARB laws, they require that the swapped in engine is of the same year or newer. so if you have a 95, you may need to get an 02 WRX, or if theyre kinda lax about it, get a JDM motor. as far as standalone, it all depends on the type of mods youre getting, and how much HP you want.....
