I agree with the above, I am putting an 04 wrx motor in a 99 rs. I have been tracing wiring and looking at diagrams for what seems like years. in the wiring side I have got about 20 hrs. in it so far and probobally abot 10 or 12 left.
The mechanical end of things is easy it took me 6 hours. If the motor you are using
is an 04 I would suggest going on to subaru's website and getting a subscription
that will allow complete access to all the manuals for both cars. (you can download them to keep). here is the address:

Any more questions let me know. also try

because if you dont have the wiring diagrams or cant get them then it is easier to just do the whole harness from the other car if you can
i know it is a lot of work but there is little guessing as to what wire goes where and after you are done changing harnesses so long as all wires are in the right places the car will start and run like stock

I have most of the diagrams, for both cars, but the harness i got was severed in the crash that killed the car. I have gotten the complete engine wiring to the ecu done i just need to integrate it to the rs harness to power up everything, and gauges and stuff. hoping to start it by the end of the weekend.
