Im thinkin bout usin the 2.2 legacy block since it being a closed deck, an closed decks are better with turbo's jsut because the cylinder walls arent as weak an can with stand more abuse right? well i know the sti is a semi-closed deck an that is better than nuttin, but i heard of a guy on nasioc doing a 2.2 block with a sti crank an rods an piston and then usin the ej20 heads, you think this would be decent set up for round 300 or ++, or should i jsut build the ej20 even though it has weaker cylinder walls? what kinda cr should i run also if im wantin 15 psi an up? thanks
The closed deck block is great and all but unless you are planning to make crazy power it's not really needed, but then again it doesn't hurt to have.
Are you looking for 300 at the crank or at the wheels?

i feel like i can answer the question because i just acquired a ej22t for my impreza. There's a ton of info on the bbs.leagacycentral.org forums too BTW. Is your goal around 300hp or a lot more than 300hp? i guess i don't know what you mean by 300++
for some good info on the ej22t visit this page http://www.legacycentral.org/library.htm

sorry for bout the 300++, what i meant by that is 300hp to the wheels or lil more 300 to bout 350 sounds bout good to me. im buyin new axles as of now from www.driveshaftshop.com since i think i pretty much messed mine up the front axles. an im buyin me a new tranny lol messed my first gear up racing. so what kinda clutch runs good with a ej20 tranny? im also lookin in to buyin a 8lb aluminum flywheel from fidanza.
With its forged crank, forged rods, special pistons, and medium pressure cast closed deck block the EJ22t can handle 20+ psi pretty realiably. So 300 hp would really just require good engine management tuning. fuel tuning and probably a bigger turbo. which aint cheap, but not as bad as buying a sti engine.

The goal of 300 hp still seems a little vague though. peak numbers don't have much to do with how fast the car is, in certain conditions it could be slower. 1300cc superbikes can make 300hp at 14,000 rpm but i wouldn't want to put one in my car cause it probably doesn't have enough torque to start the car from a standing stop.
