Dropping a 2.0 or 2.5?
So bad news bears today...
i need a new small block, one of my cylinders blew a 60 on the compression test....
Now i have an 03 wrx with a good amount of mods,
so should i put a 2.0 or 2.5? Or rebuild it?
I'm worried about my tranny, its a stock 5 spd and will be pushin well over 300hp
Any help would be appreciated.
thanks!

well,
i'm aware of needing to get PBGs eventually. I mean, not so much worried about the tranny. I mean i have a garrett roated turbo kit on my car, with bigger injectors.
and...what i'm going for...
well i wanna go fast. lol
also,
if i dropped a 2.5 do i need to get a 2.5l cobb access port?
thanks again

A 2.5l shortblock is a great fooundation to start with.
Using the correct headgaskets will lower the CR to spec.
I can either build a 2.5l of use an OEM short block.

there's no replacement for displacement, bigger is better, if you can do all the work on the rebiuld you would save a **** load of money, but if you dont well just go with the 2.5 ......... good luck

Just an FYI:
All of our shortblocks are inspected, measured, and assembled by a Subaru Senior Master Technician with +12 yrs experience.
All machining work...boring/honing, surfacing, vallve train, etc...is performed by a machine shop with +25yrs experience.
I then assemble each coomponent into longblock configuration in house.
