I've heard of porsche's swapping in subaru engines, but the other way around im not so sure. you'll also have to upgrade the tranny for sure.

well just figure out the dimensions. anything is possible within reason. as long as the width is around the same size, i think it should work. i dont think the length would matter too much, there should be enough room and its a easier fix than the frame rails.

The crankshaft turns the wrong way, so you'd have to start there.

I wanted to swap out the stock tranny for either a 2006 or 2007 adjustable 6 speed center differential. i would go as low as a 2004 STI's transmission.

Good luck with a swap like this. If I had a good Porsche drivetrain, I would not put it into an Impreza - I'd put it into a chassis designed to handle that much power and torque. Porsche design is flat-6 rear-mounted engine with transaxle mounted ahead of the engine. There's also the technical hurdle of adapting the Porsche engine management system and wiring harness. The Porsche drivetrain probably costs several times what an Impreza chassis sans engine sells for.

How much money are you planning to spend on drivetrain swap like this?
