2.0 heads on a 2.5 block

yup, I've done it. Doing it again right now (unfortunately, ugh....don't ask).
anyway, you either 1) get custom pistons to give you the proper compression ratio with OEM gaskets OR
2) like just posted, thicker gaskets. I've been using (and will be using again) .060" gaskets. No issues over the past 55K miles.

What kinda power are you guys making with this setup? I was thinking about doing the 2 liter heads, ported with an sti 2.5 block, but was wondering what kinda power it made, how reliable it was compared to just doing an entire sti swap, and does it give you a little more top end power due to the wrx heads then a regular sti motor would? Thanks for the advice.

I just got my new motor installed. Feels great so far. It's still in break-in however. STI 7 heads with a 2.5 shortblock with factory 2.5 headgaskets. I think CR is 8.7 or something. Should be fine. I haven't got into boost yet but it already feels like it's going to have some legs compared to the 2.0 I had before.

2.5L STi SB swap right here, no problems yet, *crosses fingers. Heres what i had done:
OEM STI short block
Machine 2.0L heads
ARP Head studs
PE kevlar Timing belt
NGK Iridium plugs
Over haul Gaskets kit (w/STi head gasket)
Cosworth Blueprinted Oil Pump-W/ high pressure mod
Sti Waterpump
Thermostat
and i think a couple of little things.
Car runs great, except for the little noises i hear (tranny, suspension stuff).
I kept the high compression and GST motorsports tuned and installed everything for me. I love the very aggressive low end that comes with the high compression rate, I just need a bigger turbo to get a better top end. But i'll need a tranny upgrade before i go there.

i have an sti 2.5 block new 2.0 heads new arp head studs and cosworth head gaskets.. and i got the engine in the car and got it fired and suprise water in the oil... do you think it could have been the block not sealing ???
