Turlock Subaru (Turlock Imports) Closing...
Just thought I'd start a thread about our local Subaru dealership having. I originally purchased my 2006 Impreza WRX at Turlock Auto Plaza (Dodge/Chrysler/Jeep) on November 15, 2005 wayy before Turlock Subaru was built.
When I bought my car, I also purchased some "Platinum card" thing from Turlock Auto Plaza claiming free tire rotations and $9.95 oil changes for life... until I went in and was charged the non-discounted amount. Seems that the auto plaza was losing money bc they did this great deal, so decided to cancel everyone's card. One of the many idiotic things this place did. I used to DREAD even going there. I remember asking for one replacement bolt for my rear bumper and the hassle just to be told, "find it else where".
Then came Turlock Subaru...
I was extremely reluctant on even going to the dealership for the 45 minutes to get my oil changed or to inquire for parts. Instead I would order all the parts online, go and drive out of town to meet NASIOC/I-club members for parts and steer clear of this new dealership bc of my experience in the past.
After hearing people talk at our monthly meets in Turlock about how great the Parts department at Turlock Subaru was in actually wanting to help us; about how nice the new service manager was, and about actually being able to chat face to face with the Subaru mechanic that would work on our vehicle.. I had to go back in.
Then ever since, when I need help with my car, I hit up my Subaru mechanic. When I need parts, I don't hesitate to call, email, or stop by to order a misc. part from the parts department. I just bought a couple hundred dollars in random parts last month, and it was very simple and Debbie was extrememly helpful through emails and over the phone.
I've had to go across the street to Turlock Auto Plaza (Dodge/Chrysler/Jeep) the last couple times because they laid off our mechanic and shut down all of Turlock Subaru's service/parts depts. Both experiences at the Turlock Auto Plaza were hell. They wanted to keep my car for over a day just to take 30min and replace a shifter bushing when I arrived for my appt at 830am. Makes you wonder why Dodge/Chrysler/Jeep are doing crappy and are in need of this proposed bailout plan. O well.
Jerry, Debbie, and all of Turlock Subaru. You will be missed!!!
HUGE THANK YOU!! to everyone there that allowed us to hang out at your dealership for meets... and also for the few test drives

You all should go see Andy Mellot at the Sonora Subaru service department...he is probably the nicest and most helpful guy ever.
Plus they have a 15+ year Subaru mechanic named Mike who's hella chill.

To me, quality speaks for itself. IE; My company is an Operations Management company, so we offer a service to our customers. If we don't go above and beyond our quality expectations, we're going to fall in with the rest of the OM companies and lose contracts. We've now been on the Forbe's top 100 companies to work for 2 out of the last 3 years.
It seems like this dealership really stood out, at least to me, and in this area. Just really sucks it has to shut down. I'm going to miss a place where I can take my car in to get serviced that won't hassle me bc I have an aftermarket exhaust on.

For sure. She's gone out of her way to order small parts for me and helped me a ton. I think most of us CenCal Subaru guys are in debt to all the work and help Debbie and Jerry have done for us. I know because of their help and my experience, my next new car will definately be another Subaru.

Andy still lets me use the shops lifts...and Larry lets me use his tools...and all the mechanics are always going out of there way to help me out when I need it.
I've never been to a dealership where I felt like I could walk in and sit where ever I please, talk to whom ever I wanted to, or jus chill and watch tv. I new almost everone there on a first name basis, and the new me and my car.
That sort of consumer/supplier relationship, from what I had heard, died with the 50's.
I've been to several dearlers and they all had the same presence, uncomfertable, intimidating, and awkward. The people at Turlock Subaru always tried to make your concerns, or visits seam important.
I bought my car on September 17 2007. At that time there where only a few "Brand New" WRXs' in California that wern't blue or gray. "Jay" a salse rep there took about a month locating my car. He told me he had them ship it up from the LA erea even if it turned out I didn't like the car. Ever since then, they have been doing the extream to find what ever I may need for my car. Turlock Subaru and they'r team will be missed. A shout out to Debbie and Jerry, they always got the job done

Go see Andy at Sonora Subaru service. He'll convince you that service can be good.
