Modesto Area Mechanic

Hey guys,

So my car been acting up and I've done what I could have so I'm searching around for a mechanic who can take a look at my car.

Long story short, just recently my car has been smoking after being warmed up and it's burning through oil. I've done a lot of research through forums but it seems like this one is out of my league now. :/

Any people you guys can refer me to?

Thanks

Stino

When ur car is warmed up pop the hood with it running and remove the oil cap, if smoke is puffing ouy when your car is on, then you are deff getting blow by and odds are one of your cylinder ringlands may be cracked

To be honest.. There are no good shops in this area. Don't go to Dee at SSAUTO whatever you do. Take a drive over the Altamont and hit up AutoHQ or Blacktraxx. Fairfield has EQ. Sac area has DBtuned. You're going to have to drive a little ways.

Low lifestyle- yeah the problem started off by being intermittent. It would only do it once in a great while. Recently I got a miss fire in cylinders 1 and 3. I replaced the spark plugs and gapped them correctly and now miss fires are present. I also cleaned out the pcv valve too and also switched coil packs around to make sure those were still good.

And yes when it's warm sometimes I get smoke coming out of the oil cap. It's light blue in color... I've read around and now more than likely my issue is internal.
Mods include
Aem short intake
Cobb access port v1 with stage 2 map 91acn
Hks hi power tbe 3 inch with no cat

IDriveMyI- I've been meaning to go to a meet but work schedule has been ****ty and to be honest I don't wanna roll up with a smokin car lol she may look good but not performing well so I'm trying not to drive unless I have too.. And yeahs buddy got ripped by ssauto so yes I'm def not going to him. I'm defiantly gonna be calling around them to get an idea of what it could be and cost :/

Correction. There's only smoking coming out from the exhaust. Not from the oil cap.

Also there was som oil in the throttle body too and reading up it sounds like it could possibly be bad turbo seals??

Errr this is frustrating

Thanks for your help guys

maybe your turbo vf39 has cracked?

hard to say... you could do a compression check and see what your numbers are like? its no harder then doing a spark plug change which you said you've done before.

There is only one guy I would trust to work on my car in the central valley. His name is Andy and he runs Andys All Subaru Repair. He was the shop manager at Sonora Subaru and ventured on his own. He has over 20 years experience with subarus. you can give him a call if you would like. I know a few guys on here have taken their modified cars to him and got them fixed. his number is 209-532-suby (7829)

if you do decided to go, tell him Dave sent you. Hes located in Sonora CA

I'm a big lurker of all the Subie forums and everyone says they would never take their car anywhere but a Subaru specialist.

I'm new to Subies.
Is there a specific reason why? Are our boxer engines too much for the average mechanic?
or is it just because all mechanics are scammers?

I'm having this same problem. The smoke looks like it's coming from the lower-passenger side of the block.

check under the car and see if your valve covers seal is leaking if all is good there check to see if its coming from the bottom of the turbo area (might have to remove the turbos heat shield.

And as to why people say "take it to a subaru mech.) is because we have ALL had bad experiance with so called "subaru specialist" and even they manage to FBAR basic repairs.

Most Mech never worked on subarus so they tend to not even know where the spark plugs are... which is the 1st clue that you should high tail out of there haha

I drive 1.5 hours every time my WRX needs a major repair or service.

I just can't risk my baby being in the wrong hands.

Thanks for the info. Will do!
