Im running cobb springs on the OEM struts for 45k miles now and mine are still working great. It rides fine. Its actually a little soft for my taste but my old *** million miles of ruck marching spine does not mind at all.
Either way you go its the same amount of work, but if you are not going to spend the money on good coil overs then go with springs.

(cheap) Coilovers are bad, mkay?
Dspec struts for $800 will do nicely with lowering springs, or you could send yours to Odi at Feal for a revalve for ~$500. New springs will cost ~350. Any coilover setup that you can find for under $2000 will leave you wishing you hadn't ruined your car and blown all your money on looks.

Ive ridden in zeals ohlins KW and many other high end brands and the ride is always harsh.
most get coilovers to drop the car down past 1.5 inches and to do that you reduce the suspensions travel which means your going to have to get a aggressive spring rate and adjust it to some stiff settings to keep the tires from rubbing... which is always a recipe for a crappy ride on a DD car. I dont care how much you spend on coilovers... at that point its pure race car and race cars are not DD hehe
