Great prices on wind sheilds in Modesto

While on my way to the Modesto Subie meet this last Saturday I caught a good sized rock/boulder to my windshield. The other person that went to the meet was 08REX and he gave me the number to a great place to get a new wind shield. Well I just got off the phone with them and they quoted me $145 for a new (not used) wind shield installed. They said they would have to order it but they would get it the same day they ordered it and it would take 1.5-2 hours to install. I wasn't planning on fixing the wind shield right away but at those prices I'm not sure I'll wait. They also quoted my friends Passat wind shield at $165 without rain sensor and $185 with the sensor. Seems like a great deal and I thought everyone should know about this place.

Thanks 08REX for the info!

Nice. Thanks for the info. I've got a crack in mine that I need fixed, well new windshield that is. I've been quoted just over 200. so 145 is a steal. I'll be calling once I have a little extra cash.

LOL thanks again!

I called my insurance agent and he gave me (209) 595-0328 for wind shields around the same price. This guys name is Pete. I looked up the number in google and it was the same company name as the one in Modesto but this one is located in Turlock. When I spoke to him he quoted me $149 and said it was the same company as the Modesto store. Looks like they have two branches. One in Modesto and one in Turlock.

Also got a quote from Don's Mobile Glass.

"The quote for that new windshield is $235. That cost does include our free mobile service; we would be able to come out to your home or place of work at no additional charge. Also the windshield we install is warranted for as long as you own your vehicle. Another thing we offer is the first chip that you may get in that windshield is free; we will repair it at no cost to you. We would be able to have one of our certified technicians out to you within 24 hours of a response."

She said they price match so I gave them the $145 the other place offered. I also asked what their "warranty" covered since it sounds like you pay after the 1st chip.

**UPDATE**
Here is the response email from Don's Mobile Glass
"Our warranty covers our labor. We cannot warranty the glass, because glass may chip and break again, and there is nothing we can do to prevent that. If there is an air or water leak, or loose molding we do warranty that. The lowest I can go is $185. We will be using a new molding and a new windshield. Competitors lower cost may be due to reusing faulty windshields or under par moldings."

I'll have to get a quote. My wife's 09 GTI has had a crack for a year now.

I have Don's mobile glass coming out today to replace it. I went with them because I will have a warranty for life against leaks and they are way more likely to be around several years from now. Also I get the first chip fixed for free and they are coming to me to install it. All that for $40 more? Sure I guess it's worth it. For the record I dont doubt that other places quality. I would have no problem getting one from them.

Co-worker called about a wind shield for a 2007 Impala. He was quoted $145 with remote start-up antenna.
