I’m selling this WRX that needs some work. If I can’t get what I want for the car I’m either going to part it out or put an engine in it. If you can’t make a reasonable offer or are just going to flame, then please don’t waste my time or yours. I can make a lot more money parting this, but I’m going to give this a shot and see if anyone wants it as-is. There seem to be a lot of people looking for a wrx project like this. If you can work on cars yourself and have a little time, this could be a good deal for you. This is a perfect candidate for a 2.5L shortblock swap. I won't hesitate to part it if it doesn't sell.....I've done it 3 times before.
What it needs:
I'm not a mechanic, but it sounds like to me that the car needs the shortblock replaced b/c the current one has rod knock. It still runs enough to pull it on a trailer, but I wouldn’t recommend driving it home – it will need to be trailered. The passenger side front fender was bumped at like 5 mph and someone did a half-*** job repairing the original fender. I’d recommend just putting a used fender on it. The windshield is cracked in several spots and should be replaced.
The roof has several scratches and some dings. The spare tire nut that the large screw screws into is not attached and the trunkboard is missing. It could also use a rear 02 sensor b/c someone didn't zip tie the wiring out of the way and a couple of the wires on the sensor burned through (so it is throwing a CEL). The wheels have some baked on grime that might could be removed with a little more elbow grease, but I was tired.
This car is now ~7 years old and has several dings/dents/scratches/scuffs. The pictures will show these. Expect the typical wear and tear. The clutch is a newer exedy unit that has approximately 2 weeks of use on it. The transmission seems to shift fine and I was told there were never any issues with it. There are some spots of surface rust on the suspension/underneath components, but it's not like a car would have up north. This car has been in a few different states over the course of the first ownership. I'm the second owner.
The only mods that will be on the car are a TurboXS catless uppipe and possibly a boost controller.
If you are interested, pm me. I am not parting it yet, only if it doesn’t sell like it is, so please don’t send me parts requests. If someone wants a rolling shell I may consider parting out the rest as long as I have a deposit on the shell.
