The latest
Here is the latest.
My wife and I have two small children (both just starting school) and two car payments. Unless you've put kids through school, you have NO IDEA how expensive that gets. Do yourself a favor and thank your parents for spending their hard earned money raising and educating you instead of spending it on a sweet ride.
One payment is for my daily driver WRX, the other is for a Honda Odyssey. One of the payments has to go away and unfortunately for me, the Honda is the keeper vehicle. The WRX is perfect, warranty friendly and my daily driver. Tennessee does not have smog testing so I can't test it, but if you look up previous posts on this and other WRX sites, you'll see that there are CA WRX owners who have successfully passed CA smog test with 2 of the 3 cats in place. Only the up-pipe has been removed on my car; the two downstream cats are still in place and very visible from underneath the car making it look deceptively stock (you can't see the other mods unless you know precisely where to look).
I'll email you some pics today.

Still for sale
The car is still for sale, but I returned it to stock with the exception of the up-pipe. I lowered the price to $16,000. It's posted on this forum. I did the math and I'll make $1000 to $2000 more in pocket by selling my parts seperately off the car than by having to entertain the low ball figures thrown at you on these forums (for modded cars anyway). Since my car is so clean and the dealer that sold it to me knows how I keep my vehicles, he said he'd buy the car back from me if I put it back to stock, for a decent price, so I have a couple of options.
so did you sell the car back to the dealer? There are 2 wrx wagons here at 2 diff dealers here where I live and one is a 2002 with like 17K and one is a 03 with like 18K, both are silver wagon 5 speeds, I wonder what they took them in trade for?

Car is sold.
I sold the car through a private party sale. I was asking $17,900 with all my mods. When I got no bites, I removed all of my parts.
I ended up selling the parts for almost 80% of what I paid for them for a total of over $3000. I then sold the car outright for $16,000 (2002 PSM wagon with 35,000 miles). Definitely the way to go and worth the effort.
The dealer offered me $15,000. I know for a fact he would have put it on his lot for $19,000 and let it go for $17,500 - $18,000. The KBB trade in was $14,600. I recommend that if anyone finds a nice clean used WRX to really beat them up on price because I doubt dealers have more than $14K - 15K in them, if that much.
