wrx vs evo8

I was wonder what are some of the major differences are between the 2. I'm speaking in terms of the stock wrx vs evo8. I know the evo comes stock with more power, but what gives it more power? Bigger stock turbos? More Boost? A more stout 2.0 liter engine? I know this is a subaru board so most posts will be in favor of the subaru. I know the STI will own the evo, but why spend more if the wrx can be upgraded to compete on the same level.

that isnt very fair is it? if you wanna compare then you should compare the STi vs the e8 .. . .

The differences that I have seen between the two is: the EVO has brembo brakes, 17" Enkei Wheels, FMIC, spray for the FMIC, Recaro Seats, sun roof, adjustable headlights from the interior of the car, strut bar. All from the factory. The WRX has none of those from the factory. With the EVo you can get the sunroof option too. They are out at the dealers check them out.

The Evo also has a larger turbo, more boost (up to 19psi stock), forged internals, much tighter suspension tuning, and according to those who have driven it, a better-spaced 5-speed.

yea i have a silver evo, and the car is amazing, in every way shape and form, i m just waiting for the break in period to be over to see real power cause up to 4k the car is hauling *** and it is liek damn...........it gets better then this

I would say it's fair. The Evo costs more than the WRX. The STi will cost more than the Evo. The Evo and WRX engines are the same displacement, the cars are roughly the same size and weight, and both are awd. Plus, the new STi isn't out yet, so it would be pretty hard to make that comparison right now.

Heres the big difference:

The EVO has a 15k mark up right now.

The WRX you can get for Invoice price or less right now.

What size turbo do they both have? how much boost does the WRX have? Arent the WRX's internals forged?

I'm not sure on the turbo sizes. The WRX boost is factory set to around 13.5 psi stock, and can safely be raised to 15 or 16 psi. The internals on the WRX are not forged, but the STi's will be. The Evo is an all-around better car than the WRX and to me is worth the extra money over the WRX (MSRP, not markup). The WRX could be modified to beat the stock Evo, but you would end up spending almost as much as you would have if you just bought an Evo and you would most likely have lost your warranty and some reliability. Markup also varies. Here in San Diego the dealer markup is between $3500 and $5000. After the STi comes out I predict all Evo dealer markups will magically disappear.
