wow, pontiac gtp is fast
I always hated the pontiac grand prix because it looked pathetic but I got to drive a lightly modded one today and wow. I think I have a new car to lust after. The car was quick and fairly agile plus it's direct cousin is the chevy monte carlow SS. I was alway attracted to both these cars, its kinda like that fat girl you wanna nail but just can't bring your self to admit.
The lightly modded gtp had lowering springs and a 10 psi supercharger pully and that was it, plus the inside was very comfortable and quiet. It was not at all like my STI but I'm still in love with the animal that is the STI.
Any body have a simular experiance.

I've had an experience with a GTP and man, I just walked away. Their suppose to be fast but this one wasn't..maybe it was stock or something but for all the GTP experience I had, their slow. Also them Ford Lightnings?? No contest at all. Maybe it was just kids with them badges on their cars trying to be them, so who knows??

I had a friend in college that owned one. He had it for 6 months and it needed a brand new transmission. His car was bone stock. Pontiac is not known for its reliablity, and that car doesn't help its rep at all!

I love how people are experts on cars they have never owned. Subarus never break down? Lets see how many issues did I have with my wifes GTP, 1 corroded coil. Yeah that was the only issue in 150K miles. Now how many have I had with my subaru, 1. windshield whistles at speed, 2. cruise quit, 3. rear diff failed. Not the most reliable car that I have owned.

Not just saying that because I'm a suby guy. I actually started out as a Chevy and Pontiac guy but almost every Pontiac car is an amalgamation of corporate parts and FWD! Pontiac lost it's manhood when they cancelled the Firebird.
That being said. Yes the car is nice and comfy. Does it perform? Not really, compared to the Nissan Maxima or Honda Accord V6 (chose Maxima because of the size comparison). It's fast'ish but not lustful in any sense of the word. I think I'm gonna go with listless.

Just pointing out that I have had more problems with my subaru, than I had with my gtp. Having actually owned one I do have a little more insight than some one who has not. At least it is not pure speculation on my part. I am sure I can find many people with horror stories about subarus. Just take a look around, they are every where. Just pointing out the obvious. Sorry if I do not share every ones views. I have seen plenty of reliable high 12 second GTPs (W/Bolt on's and trans mods).
