Too bad the Renisis is still in there. That motor sucks ***. For those who doubt it, go check out the RX8 forums sometime.

Really? I thought the Rensis was supposed to usher in the new era of amazing rotaries? It being light years ahead of the wankel and all...

Hmm, what's the criteria to make this list? A few of the engines are quite boring, conventional engines (the truck engines) and two are from hybrid or economy cars and are essentially golf-cart motors. No SLK AMG? No Ferrari engines? No Viper engine? Even the new Corvette engine deserves to be up there instead of those diesel smokers.

Man, look at the torque curve on the Renesis! Or rather, the LACK of curve -- it is almost flat regardless of RPM...

BAN, what are some of the problems with the Renesis, besides the name that sounds like a medicine for old people's joints? 1.3 liters of displacement -- wow, that's humbling.

The Renesis is blowing up left and right and Mazda has revised the power rating on it twice already, and it's not even an entire model year old.

The criteria for making the Ward's list have more to do with technological advance and breaking new ground than out-and-out horsepower (or torque, as is the case with the AMG V12). That's why the Evo motor doesn't make the list- sure, it makes a lot of power, but it has no new innovation in 10 years, and is horribly polluting for a 4 cylinder car. The EJ25T on the other hand makes the list for being rather clean burning while still making tons of power and making some small advances in design. Same for the truck motors. I don't see why the Hemi is on there, but Dodge's inline-6 diesel is amazing.

Yeah one of these days when i can afford a truck it'll have a Cummins Diesel engine without question. They are damn near bullet proof. They're like a fine wine because they seem to run smoother/better with age. My Father has an old cummins engine in his work truck and he's got well over 350,000miles on it with minor problems. The cummins will be on that list for many years to come.
