measure up like in a race? modded wrx would take it barely.

measure up overall, stock sti is way "nicer" than a modded wrx. unless your mods were things like brembos, wheels, seats, and other **** that doesn't help you go any faster

There are more drivetrain losses in the wrx since the sti has a lighter flywheel and such, so a 300 bhp sti will have more whp than a 300 bhp wrx.

I'd imagine a modded-to-300hp wrx would also have a lightweight flywheel and upgraded clutch. don't want to assume too much.. but one thing is for certain you have to spend some bucks (10k+) to approach the overall performance of an sti . straight line performance now thats another story.

It would depend. Drag race? close. Road course. No comparison.

acceleration time the Sti would take it no problem. Everyone is overlooking a huge, important thing. Hp doesnt accelerate the car, torque does. The Sti has more displacement, which equals bigger piston area, which equals more torque.

STi puts down 100 whp more than WRX. 6 speed helps make the difference. Dont know torque at wheels, but torque makes a car go and the STi has 83 ft/lb more at the flywheel.

in a hypothetical "situation" a heavily modified wrx beat a stock sti recently- - - and the funny thing is the driver of the sti was beat in his own car (the wrx) which was driven by his friend who has only driven hondas his whole life- this was all hypothetical of course

i don't care how much faster a modded wrx maybe- you just can't beat the reliability of a sti that has the power(with warranty) without having to constantly "monitor and adjust" frequently-

bein that i have the 2, it's nice to be able to beat myself once in a while!

Sport Compact Car Magazine had a competion when the sti came out to see if a Tuner could make a WRX that would stand up to sti in performance at around the same cost.

didn't happen. and now consider the interior of the car plus the sti body pieces.

if you have the money go with the sti.
