IMO, go for the lotus...it will kick the STi's *** in anything twisty, and will probably match its numbers in the 1/4 mile and 0-60

my money would go to the elise unless you plan on using your car for anything but spirited driving. Remember that the elise wont carry anything, its pretty much a street legal race car. I say buy what fits your means

The Elise is dead sexy. If you want an exotic car that you can take to the track, go for it.

If you want a car with four doors and a trunk that out-performs almost anything on the road, go for the Sti.

It's a matter of practicality, I believe. Either choice is excellent though

Are you single? The reason I post this is, the Lotus will attract more chicks. I would go with the Lotus, faster in more directions. Imagine if you added a turbo and some other mods. Or buy a used turbo V8 Espirt for the same $$$. Anyhoo, you cant go wrong with either choice.

I have a STi but that Elise has been on my mind. I'd like to get one within the next 3 years or if I decide to get a house with a 3+ car garage

The Elise is a bare bones, hardnosed screamer. Light weight, incredible handling. I've always admired Sun International for importing a few over the years and federalizing them with Integra R engines.

If its going to be your daily driver, the STi is a better choice. If you're after a fun track toy. Elise.
