STi or RX-8?

Until recently, I was convinced that the STi was going to be out of my price range and I was almost completely convinced that I wanted an RX-8. Now, I am on the fence between these two cars. Unlike some people, I actually really like the styling of the RX-8 and I definitely prefer a nimble, agile handling to a heavier, power-laden feel. Having not driven either car, I can't say for sure, but I suspect that the driving experience will be something like Miata vs 350Z (ie light but less power vs heavy but loads of torque). I'm sure other people are trying to make the same decision and I'd like to see what others are thinking.
The main reason I'm not interested in the RX-8 is the lack of torque. Plus, for the price, I'd rather have the STi, 350Z, G35, or Evo. But if you're that serious about buying, I'd definitely try to test drive before deciding.

All the RX8 zero to sixty times I have seen have been over 6 seconds.. not cool to me, but the G35 coupe is the same but thats because of the luxo stuff that quiets it down inside. Evo or STI if you want fun. 350Z or RX8 if you plan on giving it to your kid in 15 years. Well maybe if your kid can work on rotary,,, maybe the 350Z

test drive the 350z, evo, s2000, and g35 coupe...they are all around 30k and have about the same power to weight ratio...check out all of them and see which one suits you

is the 350Z turbo ever going to come out? if so, that'll be my next car...or do the G35coupe 6MT if enough mod parts come out for it too.
design wise, i like the G35coupe better than the 350Z, but
performance wise, i bet the 350Z's gonna have more tuners and more parts available.
so far bestmotoring describes the 350Z as an American sports car and a great FR coupe for beginners. suspension design still needs a lot of work, but im sure nismo's working on that.

personally i would go with the sti. however, the new issue of car and driver said that the sti was plagued with understeer due to the lsd front diff. im sure there will shortly be something to cure it of this after it is released, but i dont think you'll ever be able to get it to rotate like you would the rx-8.

checkout rotarynews.com. or other rx-? forums. there is an article or an interview with the engineers of the renesis engine and they mentioned that "the renesis was made/designed for forced induction" . Perhaps they will have a turbo version of an RX(8or7) car somtime in the future again.
