STi legacy, forester and impreza wagon

Do you think now that they have released the toned down turbo outback and forester they will bring over the rest of the STi family or maybe even the B4?

I doubt it.

I have no idea what the difficulties may be, but I have a feeling that US regulations require manufacturers to jump through so many hoops in order to bring a high performance car over.

Also, I imagine that our fickle buying public makes any manufacturer very tentative. Probably so very difficult to guess demand.

I only became aware of import cars when I bought my WRX in 2002, and that was shortly after I was stationed in Hawaii. On Oahu, you forget that the car purchasing demographic is not necessarily representative of the rest of the United States.

I went on leave prior to deploying to Afghanistan, back in March. It was the first time I'd been home since shortly after 9/11. I anticipated that the amount of modified import cars would be much greater than when I left, due to what I'd seen on the island.

I was wrong.

America as a whole isn't buying 2f2f. I doubt many of the highschool kids in my hometown (west Indiana) have ever heard of Dori Dori.

STi forester: I doubt them ever bringing it, as much as I would like them too. There just is not that big of demographic looking for a hella fast compact SUV.

STi legacy: of all these this is probably the most likely to come. I personally would not be suprised at all to see a new STi legacy here in the US with the new (in development) twin-turbo H-6. Of all these this would have the highest amount of people who would buy it. Especally if they make it very luxurious inside

STi Impreza Wagon: I would put money down on this not coming to the US, at least not in the next 3-4 years.
Cheers

gpatmac you're probably right about the forester because frankly i haven't really seen the demand for but as far as Subaru bringing in more of their performance cars I think only time will really be able to tell. The release of the new 2005 turbos will probably be the best indicator for if they see the demand for it you'd probably be surprised to see what kind of hoops manufactures will jump through to make money. Also on that note once you've jumped through those hoops with one car albeit your highest performance car it inevitably becomes easier to get other cars through those same hoops.

it has always been my desire to see subaru bring their entire line here in the u.s.
hopefully with the launch of the legacy they will get positive results-
in the past subaru has always been against the grain, and as of recent they have actually forced a portion of the u.s. market to look at them-

subarus pushed the envelope in terms of performance sedans-
not innovators, as there were many before subaru...but simply they elevated the game. they took a chance and won.

hopefully they will bring something into our market that "demographics" says no to. . . if they do, i believe they will succeed-
if at least i would like to see a B4-

i agree with the gentleman above that the 2005 turbos are the closest you'll see to these types of cars in the usa. the sti sedan will be the only dedicated sports car subaru brings here. i test drove a 2005 2.5 turbo wagon, and even with the five speed automatic it's quite a lively car.
