Saab 9-3 Sport Sedan
Am I the only one who thinks this is a sweet looking car?
210 hp, turbocharged 2.0L
6-speed manual
Front-wheel drive only, though
I wouldn't mind having one of those to cruise around in.

Yea, I love the new SAAB bodies, but I'm not much of a SAAB fan overall. I just can't see paying $40K for a FF car, no mater how nice the interior is. If they would make one in AWD already, maybe, but I still don't know if I can bring myself to buy a GM produce (and no I don't consider 20% of FHI a GM product, but it still worries me).

I can't see paying 40 g's for a re-badged Chevy. The final straw was when GM yanked the liftback from the model line. What's next, a key on the steering column?

yeh, the new 9-3 looks like my modded G20 (infiniti).
im a tier1 to GM so probably can get like 20% off retail. if i were
you, i'd wait until at least the sport version comes out in Feb...but if the viggen version comes out, that would be cool.
if you read car and driver and stuff, it still not as good of a
performer as the 3-series...for that matter, i am planning to
get the G35 coupe or sedan may be next year. it will replace
my G20, NOT my wrx. hehehe.

yah, it cracked me up when one of the car mags did a pro and con about one of the current Saab's.
Pro: (something to the matter of) unique Saab turbo performance and feel.
Con: unique Saab turbo performance and feel.
hahahahaha.
the new 9-3's AT is somewat a sluggish
shifter, so if anyone is planning to get one, make sure to get
the manual version.

I don't know a great deal about Saab, but from what I have read it seems they have alway been underachievers. I was reading Edmunds review and about how they have a rep for unimpressive handling and build quality and materials.
This is just my impression of Saab as someone who has never owned one. Maybe someone can enlighten me, but as it is I think there are many better cars out there for the money. The 9-3 seems like a step in the right direction, but why not buy a car that has a history of being a great car instead.

I learned to drive in my dad's Saab 9000 Turbo. It was a nice car for about 5 years, and then everything started to self-destruct.
It had 165 HP and weighed 3200 lbs, but it seemed pretty quick to me at the time.

I just think that when you break the $30K mark, anything called a Sports XXXXX should be FR at least. A Luxury XXXXX can get away with being FF, but not something that is supposed to be "sporty". If I really needed a FF Luxury Sport Car, I would go Volvo instead. Just my opinion.
