I have to admit
nah.. porsche is just pissed... cause who is gunna want to buy the slower car for more money...

i mean.. its true..
If I could afford the Porsche I'd get it over the GTR. Yes, just because it's a Porsche. Not that I could take either car to the limits on city streets. The Porsche just ooozes with style.

kYLEMtnCRUZr 09-30-2008 11:28 AM

my Miata is fun, because i can take it to its limit on the turns and still be "legal"

That's why most of you have more fun in 30mph go karts than you do in your cars.

That's all I have to say about that.
I hear that zr1 and gtr may have run race gas as wellll.................

can't wait for some of these rumors to be answered..................and im sure it will get everyone into a ruthless attitude at the ring.
That would need a tune for the car then, race gas without a race gas tune really wont do any good.

I would take the GT-R. I see way too many porsche every day. Only time I check one out is if I see a GT2 or something rare.

we are talking about Nissan and GM, not Subaru.

I would suspect that Nissan has the maps already in the ECU for higher octane and will advance timing and maybe boost when it does not detect knock.

I am sure GM will advance timing until it detects knock as well.

no need for aftermarket tuning when its straight from the factory :)

kYLEMtnCRUZr 09-30-2008 11:38 AM

You never see Porsche's "drive"

The Porsche that gave me a run for his money was a Cayenne Turbo in teh mtns.

so yeah, i wouldn't want a Porsche because their "drivers" ruined the name IMO

If i would get one, it would have to be at least 10 years old, since the "wussy" drivers always upgrade their car every 3 years, 10 years is a safe im-not-associated-with-that-wussy-group-of-drivers buffer

pink-i-wagon 09-30-2008 11:41 AM

The "drivers" are usually MIHFs.

JZ oo7 09-30-2008 11:44 AM

when fifth gear tested the GT-R against the 911 turbo, the GT-R was faster. why can't someone independent do this test instead of porsche testing it. i'm sure there will be plenty of production GT-Rs going around the ring, then we'll see what times they are running and compare that with production 911 turbo's time.

what!?

You could make 50+ hp with just race gas an tuning on cars like that, esp the GTR and GT2. Of course they'd tune it.

not true

try it on a stock subaru

the ECU will add timing automatically it gets good 1/3 through a tank :)

joltdudeuc 09-30-2008 11:47 AM

I've believe that Nissan cheated using non production tires, but I dont know about everything else.

I'd say that we'd need EVO magazine to pick up two cars and race them at the ring, and let the world know. Same driver, back to back runs.

Read what I said, I sad they would need a tune to make HP from race gas, the gtr has two maps on it from the factory a 91 for states like cali and us 91 gas using states, and 93 for the states that use 93. The only people that can change the maps are the dealers.

but you cant get teh HP gain on an NA like you can on a turbo car from what i have seen
