Poor-sche

Interesting experience in the local bank branch over the holidays. I'm in line waiting to do a transaction, and an older couple comes in and stands behind me. They are next to the little deposit slip counter. The woman soon calls out: "Who left their Porsche key?" A guy up front says "Oh that's mine, thanks."
Woman pipes up, "I guess now you owe me a Porsche!"

Guy replies with more than a hint of consternation:

"You can have it!"

Ouch!
Woman's husband says, "That good, huh?" Guy up front rolls his eyes slightly and gives a simple, "Yeah."

Naturally as a car geek I'm all interested to see what kind of Porsche this guy is driving that has him hating it so much. I figure its either a 964 (known for bad valve guides/seats, cost of maintenence, electrical issues), or an early Boxster. I watch him walk out into the parking lot and disappear. I keep watching for a Porsche, then I see him drive out in one.........

2004 Cayenne S.

I guess those new Cayennes have a few bugs still to be worked out then.......

Considering that this was in a bank, and people often think of money while standing in line at the bank, his "you can have it" statement most likely referred to his $498.00 a month car payment.

Yeah the payment on my WRX is 480 a month and the Cayenne is more than twice the price of my WRX. That dude has some hefty payments for sure.

Considering more than 1/2 of all luxury cars are leased, I bet his payment is no more than $600/month.

Or I'm only 20 which means I have no credit. And anyway I really dont think those payments are bad. My WRX totalled at 25500 with tax and tags. I put 4000 down. My interest rate is only 3.7% for 48 month financing.

If I put lipstick on a hog, would you say it was "kinda pretty for a pig"?
