The dynojet reads at least 15% higher than a mustang.

yes it can be quite dramatic, I put down 354 on a dynojet within an hour of putting down 305 on a mustang, so nearly 50whp there!

mustang dynos, like Dyno Dynamics dynos are load based which simulate driving much better than the dynojet, this is why most tuners prefer them

I have a question then. If the dynojet reads 15% higher, then why did my car dyno almost the exact numbers everyone else gets for a stock set up? The average stock WRX puts down around 163-170whp. I put down around 164whp on a dynojet. So that doesn't seem true to me. If that is true about what you said, either my car is really jacked(hopefully not) or its just the dyno.

Sport Compact Car magazine featured an AWD dyno comparo several months ago. It's difficult to convert the numbers from one dyno to another. Even identical models can be calibrated differently. Then factor in the ambient weather conditions such as Sacramento on a 100 degree day vs the SF Bay Area on a 70 degree day vs the high altitude of Denver CO.

For the WRX, you might have to take into account that stock cars may have a wider variance in output than normally aspirated cars. While most WRXs will put out within a few horsepower of each other, there will be some that will do far worse and others that are considered freaks because they do so well with no mods. Shiv Pathak, of Vishnu Performance, has found this to be true after testing dozens of stock WRXs at his facility using a Dyno Dynamics over the past several years.

I've seen perfectly healthy WRXs pull ~155whp on a Mustang Dyno. It all depends on how the dyno is calibrated. There is even discrepency between Mustang Dyno's. Cobbs tends to read high (perhaps to combat the altitude).

The above is a link to a pretty good explaination of DJ numbers versus every other dyno manufacturer. Read closely and discuss.
