I think you're refering to their new suv, called Morango I think. I saw one at the dealer here, and its definatley different, but very ugly.
Moron is a perfect nickname for it though

Ive seen it in person and sat in it...
Beautiful! Especially the Interior!!!
And yes, its based on the Altima/G35/etc. chasis with the same Skyline inspired suspension, and the same VQ engine.
Its $30k+ though, but man, nice car...

The CVT's driving which wheels? I'm not too sure about CVTs. They've not been to great in the past. Is this one similar to Audi's with the chain? Didn't the Justy have a CVT once upon a time.
edit: nevermind, my lazy *** just read the article.

Car Info: 02 WRX wagon=dead; rollin' in a Craptastic Camry!
I like the idea of a CVT from a technical point of view. I'm more of a fan of manual tranny's, but in a truck like vehicle an automatic may be a good call. However, I agree with the PacificMartian that nobody has produced one that has been too great.
A lot of folks are working on CVT's so we should see some reliable designs in a few years. Honda had one (maybe they still do), Audi has one and the Mini Cooper offers it as well (not in the supercharged version, though).

I don't know which CVT Murano has but Nissan has an advanced CVT that's capable of holding big power. It's in Nissan Cedric/Gloria (Infiniti M45 body with 3.0 engine I think) and it's holding 280hp.
That CVT in Cedric uses rollers instead of metal belt on other CVTs.
I like the idea of CVT but I don't think it's fully developed yet.
Imagine WRX has CVT and keeps you in full boost all the time, that's gonna be awesome. Of course it'll take away the fun of shifting but if it's faster, WRC might have one in the future. Who knows..
