Next-generation Porsche 911 caught during cold-weather testing

A new Porsche 911 (model 997) is scheduled to debut in September, but if you happened to be in northern Sweden recently you could have spotted, as our spy photographer did, the next-generation car during cold-weather testing.

The photos show Porsche has abandoned the oval headlights and returned to traditional round ones. Also, the front end is new and the redesigned rear features bigger taillights. While the exterior design changes are subtle, the big news is the water-cooled flat-six engine is expected to grow in capacity to 3.8 liters and produce around 350 hp. Both cabriolet and turbo models will follow the launch of the coupe.

the headlights are different in pics 1 & 3

IMO: headlights 1> headlights in 3

The license plates are different in 1, 2, and 3 also. The headlights in pic #3 actually look like the ones in pic #1, but with bits of camoflage to make them resemble the older style.

I dont think the headlights are different per say just the style around them. I think all three cars are diff revisions, pic3 is a earlier revision which makes the headlights look(Case wise) similar to the current model even though when you look close its still the same round headlight as in pic 1.

photo 1 looks like it may have been chopped to add the logo and remove the cover up

I like the new front, reminds me of the slope nose versions of the 993. Pretty Sweet, good find.
