First of I bow to the knowlege I see on this forum. I have a 1980 Brat, I want to swap engines in.I was thinking maybe a 2.5. Has this been done and what am I getting in to?

 

well i would love to see a brat with a 2.5!! but, i have not seen one done. the guy that owns the shop i work at "restored" a brat to a really condition. looks very good. people have offered him as much as $8000 for it. but he declined. its kind of the shop car/recognition icon. his liscence plate is TTL-BRT i thought that was pretty good. anyway, sorry ihave not suggestions for your swap. all i can say is it would be probably be pretty hard. and a SOHC 2.5 may be a better fit than a dohc. hope you find some answers.

You could mount a 2.5 with a two-wheel drive transaxle in the rear, even with an automatic trans you would have a butt load of power! In fact, now that you have got me thinking , you could even put the twin-turbo ej20 motor in there, hell, that is a great ideaI have all the stuff to do that!

 

sort of a mid engine, rear wheel driver?? now thats an idea!!

hmm, i don't know. thats a pretty large, heavy engine. probaby a little more complex too. just my thought.
