My wife has a MY02 WRX Sport Wagon and I am the VW owner in the family. Needless to say, I put as much seat time as possible in the WRX. In any case, I've started on some basic mods for her WRX and wanted to say "Hello" to the group before I put too many posts up. I am a longtime car fan (Mustangs, 914's, tweaked Scirocco & Rabbit, VR6 driver now, etc.) and each time I get in the WRX it makes me smile.
When our Taurus wagon that schlepped us through 2 kids finally died, my wife laid down the edict, "I want something fun again, don't even think SUV!". Her last fun car was a Toyota Corolla GT-S (4A-GE motor) so the WRX was a natural. She's happy with it which means I am happy with it.
Mods (so far):
Used a Dynamat knock-off (1 layer) on the doors F & R. Made a huge difference and reduced cabin noise dramatically.
Built the amplifier mounting into the rear bin (right behind the seats) so it is completely concealed when closed. Once it is in and running, I'll see if it stays on or shuts off from the heat. I'll add vents if that is the case.
Mods Planned:
Rearseat DVD for the kids. (We travel all over in the car and put 36K on it the first 14 months of ownership.)
Replace the audio system & build subwoofer in keeping the maximum amount of space.
Michelin Pilot rubber (maybe go Plus 1 on new rims)
Better brakes
Looking to Vishnu for easy speed improvements
That's it for now!
