Note: This post is of a commercial nature but hopefully it will be tolerated since it could very well be a dream job for someone on here.
Microsoft Games Studios is a looking for a top notch, experienced Sound Designer to work as a contractor on our AAA internally developed racing game, “Forza Motorsport”.
The ideal candidate must have existing knowledge of Pro Tools on OSX as well as general knowledge of PC Sound Editing tools and processes. Previous experience as a Sound Designer on a shipping title in the past is a must. Candidate must understand the general process involved with implementing sounds via scripted procedures. Passion for racing and general automotive knowledge is a huge plus.
The ideal candidate will be able to answer questions like: What are the differences between a turbo and supercharger and at a basic level how do they work and sound? What car audio source could you substitute for an Acura NSX? What is the fundamental difference in sound between 4, 6, 8, 10 and 12 cylinder engines? Because we have a huge base of the work already completed, this assignment will largely involve fixing bugs, polishing sounds, and mixing. It is expected that this will be about a 3-4 month contract.
Location: Redmond, WA
Pay: $25/hr (approximate)
Send Resumes to Alied@sakson.com (this is not me)
Thanks!
Joel
PS: I have nothing to gain personally (e.g. no kickback, no finders fee, etc.) from finding this person, I simply have a vested interest in helping the audio team on Forza find strong talent for this challenging role.
