laser vs. radar???
so i just got a ticket for 102 on the interstate. way to fast and just plain stupid. i houldn't have been driving i was so tired and really had no idea that i was going that fast. but the ticket says that the cop used a laser. do the same things apply to laser guns? could i ask if the gun ad been calibrated recently? is there a way to fight it?

yeah, 379 bucks and 2 points - it was on the interstate. not too bad i suppose - gotta love vt. still blows though.
my brother is a cop and he talks about people who contest radar tickets and there is no way around it. . . . if its on radar your done for, especially over 100. No big deal just buy a radar detector and slow down

Yup. That's the good ol' US of A's traffic court regulations, where "innocent until proven guilty" has absolutely nothing to do with it, and important things like how courteous you were towards the officer, or whether you have the forethought to plead guilty so as not to slow down the court proceedings make or break the decision. I remember once I stupidly appealed a court decision on a very vague incident involving a lane merge. I truly thought I was right! For the appeal trial they brought in a "state's advocate" who, after I was finished with my explanation, "analyzed" what he thought should have been the case. The judge waited for us both to finish, and promptly raised the fine 100 percent, and then tacked on the court costs. Lemme tell you, that taught me about why traffic court really exists. It's not about justice my friend... well may justice in their eyes. Really though, it's all about money. Oh yeah, in order to appeal, I had to pay a fee.
