I got bad luck:(

I officialy think i have some of the worst luck when it comes to cars. My first car was a 2000 civic si. I loved it, it was a blast to drive and was in great condition. I ended having transmission problems because the previous owner raced the car with out me knowing and i ended up having the transmission rebuilt. The guy i brought my tranny to was a good mechanic but a bad businessman and had bad service. I was withouth a car for a over a month when the job should have taken at the most 2 weeks. But whatever, when I got the car back i was soo excited i didnt even care anymore. A week after I got my car back, I Went outside to get into the car to drive to school. And what do you know, it was GONE! the car was stolen. about a week later i found the car completely stripped of everything. It had no motor, transmission, interior, wheels and even body parts like the trunk and fenders. I was pissed that it got stolen and also that i just paid over a thousand dollars to get the car out ot the shop. So fast forward 6 months with out a car. I bought a 2002 WRB wrx. I love the car! its fun to drive and its a great car. My clutch started to go about a month ago (60,000 miles on the original clutch) so i got a new one. When i bought the clutch, i got the stoptech stage 2 brake upgrade cause my brakes sucked, and a used perrin sway bar with mounts and endlinks for a great price off a guy on NASIOC. My car was in the shop for a week and i got it back 2 days ago. WOW! what a difference. the car was awesome and felt brand new because i also go the 60k servicing. Later that night, i was driving it (aggresiviely). shifted from 1st to 2nd and boom! 2nd gear is gone, completely stripped. So now that i paid over a thousand dollars cash earlier that day now i have to either get another transmission or rebuild this one. im pissed but getting over it, I realize its not the end of the world. Todays i go out to my car to get my wallet out of it. And what do I see? yup, my bumper completely scrapped up in the back. A hit and run. I dont know if i need a new bumper, probably not but still just more bad luck. If anyone has had badluck please post so i can feel like im not the only one with badluck. oh yea, just to tell you guys this all happened within the last year.

Dice, your question on the RA gearset was split off and moved to the Impreza Transmission forum.

dang man, good luck getting your wrx back to spec.

things aren't going favorably for me either, although my situation pales in comparison to yours.

i purchased my supra with some quarter panel damage on the left side. the cost of reparing it at my local body shop is 1300 flat. with this coming friday's paycheck i will have the necessary 1300. BUT my supra died on me this friday on the road. i was driving at around 30 mph when the accel pedal suddenly dies, power steering dies, supra dies on the side of the road. i was SO close to getting the quarter panel fixed (something i've wanted to do since the beginning of summer). and from the looks of it the car seems to be dead from more than a short in the circuitry. the ecu is very possibly dead. finding a used ecu is hard for the mkiv and a new one from the dealer runs up to aprox a grand... sucks.

I feel your pain

Sorry bro, that really sucks.

if it makes you feel any better i've had similar luck

05 WRB Wrx purchased less than 1 yr. ago. First brand new car for me ever, i've always made crap cars run til they died, then moved on. Brand new car, drove it off the lot with 12mi on it....no kidding....it was sweet.

Two weeks in (my first manual car, i'd driven manual but never owned). Snowy icey conditions out, I slow down car shift into 2nd, turn 90 deg. right, let off clutch, engage throttle.......zooom, and we all know what happens sometimes in a rolled stop with these rexs...friggen take off. Slid into a ditch, crack the front bodykit, paint damage along the side.

So i get it fixed.

two days later, i come out 4 a.m. to go to work......someone keyed the car...3/4 of the way around!!!!!

So i get that fixed.

2 weeks later. Paint starts to peel from the subaru bumper...apparently not an uncommon event....so.....

I get that fixed

last month (1 month later) i come out of work and bam! some @$$hole in an SUV decides to drive UP on to my aluminum hood, crease it down the middle, then just leaves. Fricken hit and runned.....are you kidding me?!?

then to top it off. I was getting my interior upgraded. i sent my headliner to a well recommended shop, one who'd been in business for years. Well guess what....8 weeks later....no headliner....no one returned my calls ever, the owner was duckin me, they destroyed my first headliner, placed a second on order, the BAM! No one knows where they went to. Doesn't answer emails, phone is disconnected and oh, no one is in the shop anymore...the address that they leave for their new location......DOESN'T EXIST.

Good god! If I didn't love this car so much, I'd put it out of its misery myself.

so again, sorry for your troubles.....i do feel your pain
and thanks for letting me vent

If you haven't read up on the board. '02s don't have a slip clutch, and that stage 2 is going to shread the **** out of the weak *** tranny that is already with the '02's. Even if you drive it lightly the engagement and mechanisms just aren't there. If you are going to replace the tranny, get a lenient clutch, or try to get an '03 unit. The trannies and gears have less capacity for raking gears because of an auto slip even if you drop it.
