Dodge recalled paint on some of the K-cars in the early 90's. My first car was a 92 dodge shadow and the paint was horrible. It all pealed to **** in a matter of years. Anyways, i missed the recall by a year or 2 but knew people who got theirs repainted free of charge.

I don't see why people buy the V6(2.7 Delta) GT version over the 4cyl one. Hyundai i4 motors are no slouches. The 2.0 Beta engines are almost 4g63 motors, almost everything is alike except for the MAF side. Hence thats how you see some very fast shop modified 4cyl Tiburons. They're boost happy, but not as hungry as our EJ20's though. The 6spd is lovely though and is made in Aichi, Japan.

I agree...quality is an issue with hyundai...but I really like the body. The car is slow though and where I live most of the people that have them seem to think otherwise. They are always trying to pick a race and they always get smooked!!! I don't know what's wrong with them.

I also think the Tiburon has a very cool design. Definately doesn't look like a Hyundai. I agree with others that it looks like a Supra Jr. In terms of reliability though, while Hyundai has gotten better, but I still don't think they've achieved the reliability ranks of Honda, Subaru, or Toyota. However, with alot of manufacturers reliability sagging(VW and Volvo for example) if Hyundai keeps getting better they may soon be seen as a more mainstream auto maker by the public. That's not to say that people would rush out and get a Elantra instead of a Jetta but if they keep improving who knows where they'll end up.
Still though, I think I'd rather have a car that doesn't look sporty but can blow the doors of the unsuspecting kid driving his Civic than a car that has the looks but not the power to back up the image.

I don't see too many Hyundais around me. My friend has an Elantra which he bought strictly due to the price/warranty since he's on a tight budget. I see a few Santa Fes, Elantras here and there, the occasional tiburon, but Hyundai's are indeed fairly uncommon around here.

After reading this thread a bit more, i went onto Hyundai's website and looked at some pictures of the Tiburon. Awesome exterior, horrid interior. It's like the opposite of the Chameleon XLE from that SNL sketch(where on the outisde it looks like a POS but on the inside it's a luxury car). If they can get the interior to match the exterior of the Tiburon and adjust the peformance a bit, I think they'll have a popular car on their hands there. Until then, it'll just be a car with potential IMHO.
