I used to live where I had to drive through 20mi of fields to get to work every day. Every now and again, I would pressure wash the radiator on my RS, to try and get rid of some of the bugs. And then I realized that my radiator was the least of my worries, because the paint on the front of my car is hammered from driving that route every day

Get a clear-bra if you can, because bugs=not good for subaru paint.

i vaccum my TMIC and i also made a barrier around it that looks a bit like fencing wire. I learned that the better you protect the IC, the easier it will be to clean. Also, the barrier does not restrict air flow to the IC. Some people put some screen behind their hoodscoop, looks nice but i'm too lazy.

Yes, clear bra is sound advice for all subrau owners. Also, an intercooler screen will help with cleaning that bit.

You posted the same question in the General (moved to Car Lounge), Maintenance & Warranty, and Sacramento/Reno regional forums - please don't do that. Pick one forum that is the most appropriate.

All of the responses have been merged into this current thread.

You can also make your own hood scoop screen. Try sourcing the screen material at a Lowe's or Home Depot store. You want something that is rigid enough to hold its shape, but still be able to trim it to size with snips.
