Help With An Old Dinosour

I have an 89 Subaru Gl with a 1.8L OHC I am looking for some performance tips? The dam thing dose not have enough power to get out of its own way!!!!!!!!!! HELP!!!!!

Car Info: GF8 ver6

I think there was a turbo version. maybe you can swap? If it's running on carburetor it's easier to swap.
but I wouldn't bother squeezing power from GL unless you are hotrodding GL
