Help with Carbon Fiber

I would like to make my own Carbon Fiber pieces. Can anyone give me some input on the best way to learn or go about this. What companies have the best prices on the raw materials?

Thanks,

Justin

Got my System 3 epoxy resin from mertons.com
Got my carbon from uscomposites.com

I didn't autoclave the stuff I did. Layed it up just like fiberglass. I wasn't making structural pieces though, I was just puting a finish layer on a sub box. Without vacuum bagging, the excess resin can't be squeezed out so the weight savings of the carbon fiber start to decrease.

I will most likely make some non structural parts for the car and maybe some major things like a bodykit or hood if I get to be any good. What pattern would you sugest? What pattern of weave are most hoods made from? If I make a hood or body kit, length-wise, can you stick the pieces together to make one long shape?

Get last month's issue of "Grassroots Motorsport's". The one with Adam Correla on the cover. There is a multi-page article on how to make your own carbon fiber pieces. It's a good read.
