GT500 vs STi
GT500 vs STi
what can the street legal STi do to make it handles, acclerate like the GT500 cars? i mean, i've seen STi make more than 500 horsepower but they wont be able to compete against the GT500 cars~~ has anyone seen insane STis that are tuned to the point that it has a chance to run against GT500 cars?

Haven't seen a single Ford GT500 on the road yet. Aren't they due to go on sale in a few months as a 2007 model? It won't be hurting for power, that's for sure, but I'll have to reserve judgement on the car's chassis and handling until their owners start showing up at road course track days. Only a few Corvette C6 Z06 models have been seen at a local track.
Anyone can debate which car can beat which other car from paper specifications but the proof of the pudding is when a large enough sampling of cars and decent drivers show up at a road course. Or, at least wait for a test comparison by a magazine where they hire a hot shoe race driver to drive different cars at a track for both subjective and objective reviews and statistics.
How fast is the GT500 supposed to be on the race track? As fast as the C6 Z06 or the Ford GT?

Those cars are tubular chasy cars which have been purpose built to race. How do you build a car to compete? I guess I would buy a 2.5 L STI. I would start by taking the engine out, strip down the engine throwing away the heads, pistons, rods, crank, cams, sleves and any other piece that was attached to the block and keep the block. Oh, I would also throw away the car. I would hire the top race car design engineers to design a tubular chasey which minimizes everything from total material used to wall thinkness of the cage. I would then hire a whole bunch of other engineers to work with the chasy engineers to design the suspension set up. I would send the block off to some hardcore race shop and say build me a race car engine from this block that revs to 10000 rpm. uhhh... I think you get my point.
To answer your question, how do you build a car that can compete against a race car? I would hire a whole bunch of people and pay them a whole bunch of money to build a race car...

I may be wrong here but I think he was asking about how to get a stock impreza to compete against the "JGTC" (Japanese Grand Touring Car) 500 hp cars... I could be wrong here. You know how the JGTC runs 300 hp and 500 hp cars together? Anyway, the Cusco JGTC Impreza is a 300 hp car. It is also probibly worth $500,000 or more (just a guess based off of the German Touring Cars).

The great Shelby Mustangs of the 1960s were anything but one-trick ponies. They earned their stripes on twisty roads and race tracks across America and Europe. The Shelby Cobra GT500 show car continues that legacy of all-around performance
I drove my cousin's GT500 - lots of power - great donuts. Could it handle? No
Have they changed it that much? No
The GT500 features a MacPherson strut independent front suspension with "Reverse L" lower control arms, and a solid-axle
Still has a solid axle - how great can the handling be? Better than the 1st ones because the big block made it very fron heavy and the tires were not good enough to make up for it. Which was why I had a 6mt Z28 some years ago before I went to a DSM GSX and lately to an Sti
