You said it!
I was down in the Tokyo and Yokohama area around this time last year and I went out every night, looking for all the action I could find during my 6 week stay there. I saw a lot, but nothing remotely close to the ridiculous scene this movie portrays. While I was there, I got pulled over by the police because my front corner marker bulbs had a slightly bluish tint to them instead of standard orange. They had a trap point set up to catch people with loud exhausts and other vehicle inspection violations. If I can't even get away with a set of diffrent colored bulbs, then the guys in the movie with the crazy neons and flashing lights on their rides are screwed.
There is definitely an American spin (aka: Stereotype) on Japanese car culture in this movie. My wife laughed her @ss off after she saw the trailer. The only reason she wants to see it is the main Japanese actor is some guy from a famous TV drama. I want to see it just to watch the Paul Walker act-alike trash his career on film.
Give this movie what it deserves: a cost-free downloading.

Oh, and no, I refuse to pay to see that trash, or waste my time, for that matter. I won't even watch it on tv.

I think these movies would be "better" if they chose actors who could actually act or not look so obvious that they never been under a car hood before. (Bow Wow)
Plus what’s the deal with the good old country boy as the main character? That just adds a cherry on top for it being even dumber.
If you watch the fast and furious movies for the "acting" and "plot" then you’re a fool. The only reason you should watch them is for the cars. And half the time there P.O.S. civics and nos injected. So not very often. But...I do admit, it is fun to watch and it’s entertaining from a movie perspective. But by no means is it true to life.
The thing that gets me is how "Hollywood" thinks that by having a movie about cars and the whole underground import street racing scene that it applies to everyone. (all people who modified there cars and the younger crowd in general) It gives us (the people who care how there car actually preforms) a bad rep. I've never gone to organized races with 4+ lanes and 100's of people lined up on the sides of the road or pull up to some car at 3 am and say "smoke um". Because it's just not real life.
I'd say about 90% of the time that cars actually do street race, they are set up for it. ( 500+hp cobra, supra's, corvettes, etc, etc ) Not the P.O.S. cars with full audio and street fighter body kits. All that stuff would never keep up in a real race.
So next time you pull up to a riced out civic with the bumper falling off, bondo ever where, ask him to race. Just for kicks. There gonna say no. But why? Isn’t that the point of all that stuff? Just some food for thought.
But hey, I just think it’s weird how some view our culture and get it so twisted. It’s just very disappointing how true one person or movie in this case, can ruin a good thing. California's cracking down on modified cars, cops eye'in you every where you go, and stupid kids talking about car's who know nothing becasue they got there info from a movie.
^^^ Yep, had a lot of time on my hands to write this.
If you do see it have fun and take notes on how kids leave the parking lot afterwards. Thats where the real action happens.

Lemme tell ya, a peon Datsun 2.0L or 3.0L really gets my blood pumpin'.......

BTW, I don't plan on owning an RB motor either. I prefer fast cars.
Oh, yes, see this site? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nissan_RB_engine
280hp. Wooohooo! What a rush! Now, there's a recipe for a low 14 second car right there! And wait, isn't that 280 TURBOCHARGED horsepower? back in 1992 GM came out with an LT1 in a Corvette that made 300 NORMALLY ASPIRATED horsepower.
