fake cat heatshield?

does anyone make just a heatshield or something for a downpipe that makes it look like theres a cat, where like the midpipe would be, for those that are catless? so if a cop looks under your car, they'll see a cat or what looks to be one. i got pulled over recently and this happened to me, and thought if i just had a heatshield that looked like a cat i couldve avoided that part. i might just try and make one out of some aluminum siding.

you'd be better off using a real piece of aluminium sheet metal rather than siding. the hard part is going to be getting the bends right so that it looks stock and professional.

any machine shop should have a brake press that can bend aluminum up to about 1/4" thick at nice clean angles. it might cost you $50 and a six pack of beer, but i bet you could find a machinest, welder, or some other type of fabricator that could do it for you.

all in all, it's not a bad idea. which DP are you running that looks obviously differant from stock? oh, and is your car pretty high profile from a noise and visual perspective? i'm just kinda curious why the cop actually bothered to check.

it might of been the gold rims? maybe my hks catback? gauges? i dont know, i dont think my car is high profile. i think she was just being a b*tch.

i have a pde dp, i think any dp that takes away the midpipe will look suspicious to a cop. i just said aluminum siding, because were remodeling right now and have a lot laying around i'll give it a shot when i return everything to stock for the state ref does aluminum siding melt? when i try, it will be by the bracket so theres something to help mount it.

it doesnt matter if it looks professional, you cant get that good of a view from looking under the car, i just want it to look like something is there.

maybe ill try fitting the stock heatshield on the dp somehow.
