Electric supercharger (can it possibly work as claimed?)
Electric supercharger
My cousin bought a crappy electric supercharger the other day, and I must say it looks like a piece of crap. There is no way these things can work, right?

I've seen pics of one type in a magazine and it looks like a housing with a little plastic propeller inside of it. It plumbs into the intake tract somehow, but it sure looks restrictive if installed in series with the existing air intake, especially if the fan isn't switched on. This one manufacturer with two models claims 1 psi and 2 psi, respectively - not likely to threaten conventional turbos or belt-driven superchargers.
About the only way short of dyno testing would be for your cousin to go to a local drag strip and make a few passes with the electric supercharger turned off, alternating with a few passes with the thing turned on. Compare the ¼-mile trap speed and see if there is a consistent difference.
