That might be a little imbelished.
About a year ago Hot Rod reported on this new 2.0 ecotek and said that the engine would safely handle upwards of 500 hp. This was stated from a press release at that time.
I beleive Hot Rod even accomplished 500 hp in a Cavelier with about $3-4k in bolt-ons (super/turbo).

Good luck getting that to the ground with a stock transmission!

its not how much the engine is being boosted, its the volume of air being forced in, take a look at the size of the turbo being used and you'll see its like big rig size, probably as big as our engines. plus this is in a race only application, so yea, you can expect the crazy stuff to come out in those types of engines.

LOL, I wonder what the turbo lag on that thing would be.

probably see the torque come in around 10000+?? one thing about 2 liter 4bangers you can rev the **** out of'em.

1100+ from 2 liters isn't unheard of tho.. top fuel funny cars make something like 1000hp per liter.. granted thats not pump gas. but I'd guess whatever echotech is burning to make 1100hp is far from 91 octane as well.

not that I wouldn't want a motor that COULD make 1100hp on methanol

The motor makes over 1000 hp on C16. It has no changes to the block, and no structural changes to the head, just porting. Crank, rods, and pistons are different of course. Yet more proof that drag racing is easy.

Heh, me either. 1100hp in anything sounds like fun, even a big fat diesel.
