Angry Car got douched by a semi truck tire!

Ok so last night we were having ppl over to celebrate my cousin being home from Iraq. GF and I go to work finish up and then come home. Then had to run out again right quick to get some drinks before ppl started showing up. So Im on the Antelope onramp that merges into the slow lane onto 80. There was a semi coming up in the slow land so the car infront of me speeds up to get infront... im like ok whatever im in no rush ill let him pass.

So the back of the truck is just passing the front of my car when i hear a loud *** BANG! and then a huge chunck of rubber flys off the big rig and hits my front bumper........... I WAS LIKE HELL ****ING NO!!! i pull over and check it out,by this time it was about 8:40pm, there were some marks. Looked a head and the truck did pull over. So i hop back in and pull up closer to the truck.

Guy gets out and hes like "Did you hit me?" .... Um no your tire popped and it hit my car. So we went around and check and sure found that one of the rear passenger side tires blew.

So CHP came out about 9:00 pm took statements and whatnot. The officer says are you goign to report this to your insurance and I said depending on damage in the morning, I might. He told me it would come up on my record but of course not being my fault.

Im going to go into my insurance place today and see what my options are. For the most part it looks like big melted smudges of rubber but a few places it does seemed to of chipped the paint and even cracked a little.

Do you think I would be able to have the trucking company pay for this? If not I think my deductable is $150.

What do you guys think?

(goin to get pics onto the comp)

looks minor... get a good buffing pad, turtle wax, and touch up paint.

if its really cracked and u just would hate looking at it...make the truckers pay...otherwise i think that'll come off at least decently well. I know for sure that if it bothers you now...it'll bother you later lol.

That sucks to hear man.

But if you take it to a repair shop for an estimate some might say the bumper is cracked, Meaning if you get that bumper painted again, it might crack later on down the road, although it just looks like scratches it might be more then you think at least thats what happened when I hit a cable in the road. So I would say go to a few repair shops and get estimates and then have the truck company pay for it. That way it also doesnt go on your record..Thats how I got my car painted and didnt have to mess with insurance company.

that sucks thomas. like everyone else said have the trucking company insurance take care of it. It wasn't your fault and shouldn't ding your record at all.
