The issue isnt if a bov/bpv are useful, its a matter of which gives better throttle response - bov OR bpv. The fact that is that "the compressor by-pass valve is connected from the turbocharger compressor high pressure side (intercooler) back through to the low pressure side (the intake section) just ahead of the turbo compressor. When you close the throttle to shift gears this valve opens. It makes a loop of air back into the inlet with the boost spike of air pressure in the intercooler. This keeps the turbo compressor wheel from slowing down. This is better because the air flow puts the turbo in a no load condition. The wheel keeps spinning at a high rate and without delay produce boost. BOV eliminates this airflow, causeing the wheel to stall between shifts, taking more time to build momentum." If someone can prove this wrong then that'd be great.

I wish I could have been on the something besides a cruiser. ESWS was all we could get. Being a GS I sealed my future from the get go. I would always be on surface ship. Not a bad deal though. At least the designation SW/ESWS was legit. Can't name a ship that could run with the USS Port Royal CG-73. It's one bad mother.

BOV's for some reason, everything about them makes me wanna sit through an air supply concert instead of hearing one. First off i have never seen proof where a bov (especially on a wrx) has gotten any gains in power over the bypass valve unless the boost is cranked very high. Second i thought subaru's were supposed to be low key sports cars (arguable with the STI's wing and hood scoops) and thats one thing i've always loved about them. But when you hear that annoying PSSSHHH sound from hunderds of feet away its just begging cops to come get you. How can vendors charge upwards of 200 even 300bucks for your turbine wheel to lose momentum and have to build back up after shifting. Am i just talking out of my *** here or does this seem worse than the fartcan fad? (at least you can pick one up at walmart for $30) I actually wanna hear what u guys think about this so please let me know.

tell you one thing...I am NOT impressed with the BOV offerings from GFB.....

Someone local had one on his 06, and the damn thing takes a vacuum at idle. Place your hand over the bov vent and the idle audible changes.

GSM2, the SWS pumps were thrown into use as an example. I was sent to pump shaft slignment school back in the day when I was an FN (PS1(AW) Now ) Spent 4 years on a Spru-can loved that damn ship. Forward Pump room and shaft alley...FTL hated those two firemain pumps.

Have heard good things about the Port Royal

Back to beating a dead horse...

How can you tell that the stock bov is leaking?

Rather than risk it...would it be advisable to upgrade to the perrin recirculating BOV (no noise, no rice) in the event that I've got decent mods?

Mod list:
Equal length headers w/integrated uppipe
VF34
3" bellmouth downpipe
2.5" downpipe-back exhaust
walbro fuel pump
550cc injectors
perrin fuel rail
perrin intercooler hoses
big TMIC (20x8x4?)
ground kit
cobb accessport w/vf34 map

i'm going to get the street tuner and tune the map to my setup (dyno time).

...should I upgrade the BOV...or will the stock one be sufficient?

again...I'd go with the perrin recirculating bov. I'm just curious if there are any proven results of the stock one leaking? and...how can I test if mine is leaking?
