Whats wrong with having a high rev motor? People have this misconception that it takes forever to get revs that high but thats not true. A quick blip of the throttle and the S2k builds revs like no other street car out there. The time it takes to get to its redline is the same amount of time a z06 gets to its much lower redline. Its the nature of a short stroke engine. The S2k would be a lot slower if it had a longer stroke. Sure it'll have more low end but then it just be like a Miata.

Z4 but not by much...
id have to go with the z4. both cars are exceptional, i think. i havent gotten to actually drive the s2k, but as far as ive heard, the only complaints are sometimes the high revving engine. the z4 on the other hand, i had the privilage to drive one as soon as the dealers had them. it was simply amazing. it pulls from anywhere in the powerband, which is sweet, but what got me was the handling of the car and the overall fit and finish that bmw is famous for. it bases for about 40k though, so it is quite a bit more expensive than the s2k.

As a daily driver, it's any Bimmer hands down over the S2000. You just have to drive the S2000 like you really really want to break something to get all 240 hp you paid for. Not my idea of a great road car. Get it on the track though, where keeping above 6k is cake, and it's badass. As a racecar there's not much it can't take. But I'd never own one if it meant having to drive it on the street. Much rather buy a Miata LS and turbo it with some suspension goodies and still be ahead of what an S2000 costs, not to mention the lack of waiting list and not dealing with snotty Honda salesmen. (OK, that may just be a local thing.)

Everyone who says the Z4 is ugly hasnt seen it in real life or even sat in one. Absolutley gorgeous car. Its design is reminicant of WWII jet fighters, kind of a homage to BMW's aircraft design past.
Ill take a Z4 over an S2000 anyday.
