Does all of the above for about 40 grand less. Not quite the power, but just as fast and comes with a real transmission. If you want to talk sedan anyway. Best wagon is the RS6, best coupe is the 911 Carrera4 (mortal people don't need the turbo to use 100% of their skill) and best GT is Ferrarri 575M Maranello.

Not that I have the cheddar to even have wet dreams about those cars, let alone drive them. Purely my cumulative knowledge from voracious consumption of aficianado opinion. Closest I will come will be the M3 which will be my next purchase. In about 8 years.

besides, those things will pull close to 180 mph stock, and they don't stay stock......

Mercedes performance cars don't count until they start offering real transmissions in them. It's not just about performance numbers. It's just not a sports car without a clutch to modulate. They do everything else well though, but I prefer BMW styling and cache.

I believe you are right. That's why Car and Driver (or Motor Trend, I hope neither cancels my sub for confusing it) did a comparo with the old 911 RS. It was sweet.
