Beemer Hatchback!?

Saw this on the Bay Bridge a couple of day's ago. The front end looks like the new 06 3 series BMW. Looked ok IMHO. Would probably look good with a nice set of 19" HRE's or something, or maybe it'll take time to grow on me like a lot of cars do. Including my own 02 bugeye. It was following the new turbo'd 3 series (I think).

Anyways here it is, sorry for the crappy quality, I was driving:

it looks like a wagonafied tribeca.

But yeah, I think you just spotted the 1 series. If they make a coupe, and it is < 25K and is fun to drive, I just *might* buy one. But I still think it's a pipe dream.

I think the 1 is strictly a hatch.

last i heard, BMW was trying to keep the price for the gasoline version under $25K, but the turbodiesel ( the performance model ) is going to be around $28K

How's the gas mileage? Is this part of a more gas friendly market for BMW?
