Whats with the whole 5lug Vs. 4 lug thing with the 240's. Did all 240's come with a 4 lug setup? What are the advantages of the 5 lug? Better wheels? Can you get inexpensive brake upgrades for the 4 lug?
Are there any shops in the bay area that would do an auto to 5 speed swap? Any nissan shops you would recommend for general repairs?

all 89-96 came with 4 lugs except 95-96 SE models. Both 4&5 lugs can have z32 4pot brake calipers. 5 lugs gives you more sizes and rims to choose from, and is better if you're running 300-500 whp

i've owned a '95 S14 base-model and a '91 S13 coupe.
if you want an S14, get a '95, as it's the only year w/o OBD2.
if you want an S13, get a '91, as it was the first year for the twin-cam, the only year with the factory aggressive cams and a 7500rpm rev limiter.
of the two, i much preferred the later bodystyle, much more room inside (which is a concern for me as i'm 6'3"), and more of a quality look/feel about the interior.
however, on the way home from work the other night i saw someone with an S13 convertible with silvia front-end and RHD conversion and i have to say it looked damn good.
the thing i *hated* about both was the ultra-tall gearing. before you get a ~$500 JWT ECU upgrade, you'll hit the speed limiter in 4th with plenty of revs to go (never mind a whole 'nother gear). in my opinion, this is the major reason these cars are percieved as slow; they're hamstrung by it. unfortunately, changing final-drive means either shelling out megabucks for the NISMO ring&pinion set & install for it (as you'll really want to do an LSD upgrade at the same time, most of the factory viscous diffs are shot by now), or hunting up an R200 diff from across the pond.
i've had my bmw e30 325is for 2 years since then, paid the same price-range for it ($3k), and frankly am much happier w/ this car (but i already hit you up w/ a sales pitch on it so i won't go any further in that direction
).
zilvia & nico are good resources, freshalloy is too but some of the admins there are asshats IMO.

Yeah I just piked up a 95 SE last week, 150K miles and compression tested like damn near new, these motors go forever! And yeah, unless all you want is a pad upgrade, you will want to find a 5 lug swap, they stock brakes are SERIOUSLY tiny, Im talking 1988 honda civic small
% lugs will also find you a few more wheel options, and lookie what I found out the other day, EVO rear rotors and STI calipers bolt right up!EVO front rotors fit on too, Im just making a set of brakets for the calipers, EVO part outs usually sell the brakes front/rear for around $600 since nobody knows what to do with them, sweet!

They bolt straight on and is plenty big for S13 and they came stock on the Japanese S14.

yes, the car above is the one i saw. now that i can see the wheels i might have gone w/ a different choice as well, but overall it's pretty clean.

In short, the S15 entire pumpkin will not bolt onto the S13/S14 but the guts will work in the S13/S14 pumpkin.
