I really don't like the F686, I didn't win it yet but I played with it on my bro in laws mem. card. It doesn't handle nearly as well IMO. I think the best time I can get with my 22b is somewhere between 1.10 and 1.20, maybe I am mistaken. Man, I can't wait til gt4, have you watched any of the trailers online yet?

i'm not all about books- but i did learn a few things in terms of geometry from reading a couple of F1 books. (intructional ones.. not the ones with the glossy glamour fotos
) i'm ok with what jason said- but another good game is toca race driver 2. i know it sounds silly but the physics in terms of response are really good.
but bottom line is to get into some form of formal driving education- and getting drive time- i learned alot by just driving on empty backroads and pushing the car limits(according to my limit) i'm not yet experienced enough to say i'm a good driver- but i am learning and i have a lot more to learn once i get into our local scca events- all my experience is on uncontrolled enviroments which really is not a good idea.

There are tons of backroads where I live. In all honesty, I really only see probably ten or twenty cars drive past my house every day. At night, maybe one or two, not that it's any more safe (or legal) to "push my car to its limits". I've gotten better since I've gotten my car, but I am by no means good at it. I suppose I'm too nervous about hitting deer and wrecking my car to push it. I liked the advice about doing everything smoothly, it makes sense.

You'll never push your car on a backroad as hard as you will push a car on the track... save for two circumstances: 1 - you're actually racing someone, 2 - you're an idiot. I'm guilty of both. But I didn't learn nearly as much doing that as I did at a instruction day at the track. I really recommend driving even a few hundred miles (many of us here in California do this regularly) just to get to a track of our liking for open track time or lessons.
... now I'm gonna see what times I can pull with my 22B on GT3
I've avoided looking at GT4 much. I know I'm going to buy it anyway

Hey thanks Jason, I guess I could take a Saturday off here and there to gain some valuable experience. It would be fun. Most of the tracks in PA are stupid dirt ovals or drag strips. Sheeze. I'm movin to cali.
LOL, I know what you mean about GT4, money money money. We could all wait til its a greatest hit in a few months and spend 20 dollars instead of 50. I also have to buy ratchet and clank 3!!
