Im thrilled I found this site, Ive been looking for a source of Suby expertise..

Love my '99 Impreza, but.... it now has about 140K miles on it, and it just isnt holding up the way I expected, and the way my wife's '84 GL did...

Having gone thru the ceremonial right of passage that is the replacement of the front crank seal (even my wife's Suby had this leak....), Im not also faced with a leaking power steering pump, a check engine light the dealer says is a morked catalytic converter, and oil consumption in excess of what I have come to expect, right now, with the engine sealed with new valve cover gaskets and a new crank seal, Im going thru a quart of oil ev. 1200 miles or so.

The oil has been changed regularly, ev. 3000 miles, more or less on the dot. Travel is mostly highway, and I moved to synthetic after breaking, at around 10K miles.

Soooo... are these issues common with this vintage Impreza?

Id appreciate any comments or suggestions.
