02, 03, 04 wrx changes

Hello-

Anyone know where I might find a comprehensive list of changes from 02 to 03 to 04. I know it's a long shot. I'm wondering which one to buy and all these posts make me nervous buying a used wrx. If noone knows the answer to the first question we could discuss what to watch out for on a used wrx, any good stories??

i dont think there is a big difference between 03 and 04, dealer just said the look, samething for the 02 and 03

04 interior seat color, the tailights and headlights and foglights. bigger hood scoop on the wrx. other than that its the same as the 02-03

2004 as previosly stated, major body revision. Interior is revised as well. New guage cluster with central tach, new seats (interior and integrated head rest). I think that the infamous clutch shudder is long gone now, at least I hope. Engine and tranny are the same for all models. Apparently the new body style promotes better airflow to the radiator, which makes sense, but I don't really believe.

i heard better/bigger brakes as well? and it's about 250 price change from 03-04

The ABS system now features Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD) in 04, and the suspension is different. I forget exactly what the changes are in that one, but it no longer necessitates a 20 mm rear sway bar, and the sedan instead has the 17 the the wagon previously had. Plus all the exterior and interior changes mentioned above.

Wow, thanks for the replies. Based on my experience with a few used 02's during test drives and everything i've read here, I think I'll just spring for the new 04, especially if the clutch and breaks may be improved. I'll have to look into it. So far I haven't been able to get a dealer under 19K for an 02, but I wasn't that close to buying so who knows. At that price it doesn't seem worth the risk. You get better financing on a new one such that the difference only amounts to like 3K. Anyone get any stellar deals on used wrx's? Thanks again.

did the o2's ever have more reliability issues than the 03's, considereng that was the first year of the car which is usually the worst year?

Yeah, the 04's have sunroofs. Its hard to find though, I could only find one black 04 in the southern ct/white plains area with the sunroof when I bought mine. The packagewith the sunroof is called the premium package. It consists of the power moonroof, heated mirrors, 2 stage heated seats, and windshield wiper de-icers. I wanted it for the cold newengland winters, and it seemed worthwhile to me.

There is an ad for an 02 WRX in the current edition of the Westchester County (NY) Pennysaver, claiming 290 hp, 36K miles and a bunch of spares for $17K. 36k miles on an 02? Must have been driving day and night! Mine has 11k, bought in 9/02.
