When snow hits I get a leg up by finding a parking lot and owning it for a few mins.. In the snow that's fine, almost excusable as an accident, and not so suspicious.. But even if you find a safe spot in the city, on pavement the squealing is obvious and draws unwanted attention too quickly for my tastes. It has to be a track/airport or something like that where its ok to test the limits without having to fear the long arm of the law.
Anyone know a place on Vancouver Island where a person can just go and test slide/brake conditions without bathing the car in gravel or mud? Just general fooling around, trying to flip the car, bust off a wheel, without any pesky saftey crews around, that sort of thing..

Bah.. I've never had a problem with that. I think it's all about content and making sure your entire post is worth reading. Y'know that old saying 'If you don't have anything interesting to type, just shut up and read.'.. That's why my posts are so short!

705?! There's no way that was all important and usefull info, if it was, how could it all fit under one topic?
Sounds to me like you're saying they stopped you from abusing the forum. Have you tried the same abuse elsewhere with success? I could see if it was an attempt to set a record or something, and the server admins did not mind the size of the message.. But that's about it.. Sorta like bringing your car around front at Costco.. Heck sometimes you can pull around front and even get a Costco employee to help you load your purchases if you buy enough junk. Problem is that if everyone wanted the do this, they'd have to re-design the Costco parkinglot to look a bit more like a u-serve drive-thru.. Same goes for 700+ pages per post.. If everyone did it there'd be no room on the web servers for ****, and we all know **** pays for the internet!
I'm not running to a "Subaru" club just because the NASIOC have a reasonable limit to thread lengths.

Well, actually, it's a post ***** thread with loads of information, enough to a point where almost every search would bring up that thread - now I wouldn't say it wasn't an abuse of forum, but hell did we set a record, and as part of the clean up to get some performance out of the board, they deleted it - performance didn't go up though. It wasn't something dumb like a word association thread or something, but I think that shall stand as the longest thread ever on NASIOC with me posting the last msg before it got killed. Scoobynet actually was our next home, but the bandwidth challenged got sick and tired of loading the forum with a thread that has a link to every single page of it (stupid board software). Had they used vBulletin with search disabled, I think we might have a thread with over 500 pg (broken into 2, and now on our 3rd).

I've been an admin, I can tell you that the forums are a resource not a right. If you abuse the resource, actions must be taken.
If you've got that much info in one thread, intead of under a variety of topics, then it's abuse. Use the forums the way they were designed and they will be more accessible and popular.

And I will say we pushed quite a bit further than we expected - but hell if there wasn't any server problems, I would think the thread might have stayed and we might have broken 1000 pg.
